About Me

My Golden Reflection-2 resize.jpg

Long before taking my first pictures I found myself captivated by the dynamic and evocative images within the world of Formula 1. It was here, admiring the pictures found in great F1 books such as 50 Years of the Formula 1 World Championship, that my appreciation for photography began. This childhood inspiration, reenforced by life experience and intuitive nature, would ignite my artistic vision. One of the greatest joys I've found in photography so far is a new appreciation for beauty and where it can be found.

Self-taught, my path to fine art photography developed outside of universities and studios, but on the side-lines of Sunday League football. With a humble camcorder I captured the raw energy of the game, shining the spotlight on the athletes working nine to five. This initial foray into visual storytelling opened unexpected doors, leading to a pivotal trip to the Edinburgh TV Festival and subsequent roles as a production runner with BBC Sport and teaching Film and TV at PQA Wallington and Sutton. These experiences enhanced my appreciation for the power of visual communication, the planning behind it and the dedication necessary to make it happen at the highest level. However, without a camera my journey into photography wouldn't go to far and thanks to my Mum, I was able to start that journey after she bought my first DSLR, the very same one I'm using today.

Throughout this period, I was the primary, full-time carer for my beloved Grandmother, a responsibility I hold today that continues to enrich my perspectives, and instil a deep appreciation for the quiet moments and subtle beauty of life. The blend of experiences—from the bustling energy of live sports to the intimacy of caregiving—has broadened my view on what I consider beautiful. I hope my work inspires others to pursue their creative passions, regardless of their background or circumstances; to demonstrate that authenticity and passion, coupled with unwavering dedication, can overcome any obstacle, and that great artistry can come from unexpected places.
